The Henderson neighbourhood is named after Mr. William Henderson, a member of the first council of the District of Oak Bay when was incorporated in 1906. Later he became the corporation’s second reeve. He built a residence at 1936 Hampshire Road in Oak Bay and it is still in use today.

What are the homes like in the neighbourhood?
At the northern end of Henderson, there are two luxury townhouse condominium corporations. The rest of the area, however, consists mostly of bungalows and split-levels built between 1940 and 1980. In some cases, older more modest homes, especially those with superior views, have been demolished and in their place modern luxury homes have been built.
This whole area is highly sought after because of its geographic location and easy access to excellent schools. One area in particular, locally known as “The Camosun Slope”, is very popular because its southward sloping terrain is drenched in sunshine.
