WELCOME TO ESTEVAN
This neighbourhood is bordered by: Dewdney Street to the north, Cadboro Bay Road to the west, Bowker Street to the south and Willows Beach to the east.
It isn’t known for certain how Estevan Avenue or the neighbourhood came to have this name. Some believe that it could have been for the ship, “Estevan”, a lighthouse tender that operated as a coast guard vessel along the shores of BC in the early 1900’s.
Who lives in the neighbourhood?
Almost 40% of the area’s residents are university educated. The median age is slightly more than 50 years. Average annual household income exceeds $250,000 and English is by far the first language. More than 80% of all homes here are occupant-owned. Some 50% of all households have children living at home, and of these, nearly 80% are less than 20 years of age.

How do Estevan residents spend their leisure time?
By far the most popular recreation option for local residents is Willows Beach and Park. Its amenities include: benches, picnic tables change rooms, a playground and so on.
Close to Estevan is the Oak Bay Recreational Centre. This is a large multi-faceted complex where visitors can enjoy swimming, skating, hockey, tennis and drop-in soccer.
A short distance away is the Uplands Golf Club. This full 18-hole facility often plays host to professional tournaments. It’s a very popular choice for local golfers, so much so that there is frequently a waiting list for prospective new members.
To the west is Carnarvon Centre. This outdoor park has excellent play structures for children and baseball facilities. Immediately next to it is the Rotary Outdoor Water Park, a popular place for children to play in the warm summer months. Another prominent feature of the park is the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club.
Is there shopping close by?
For quick and convenient shopping, local residents enjoy using the shops in Estevan Village. This small and concentrated area of shops is one of the most distinguishing features of Estevan. A little more distant are the shops at Fort and Foul Bay as well as those in Oak Bay village itself.
And what about churches?
