Welcome to North Saanich

North Saanich is a semi-rural community located on the northern Saanich Peninsula, approximately 25 kilometers north of Victoria. The community is surrounded by ocean on three sides, and shoreline provides many spectacular views of the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.

North Saanich itself is made up of a mix of  pastoral and residential areas. There are many farms here, as well as Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. Neighboring Sidney, BC offers shopping and entertaining, plus a ferry link to Washington State.

North Saanich Neighborhoods

North Saanich includes a wide range of properties. There are schools close by, as well as the superbly-equipped Panorama Recreation Centre. Besides its wonderful pool and gigantic waterslide, Panorama is also home to hockey and lacrosse rinks.

World-Class Recreation

In fact, the Panorama Recreation Centre helped North Saanich snag the title of Kraft Hockeyville 2015.  In Fall 2015 North Saanich will receive the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game between Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks.

The Ardmore neighbourhood on the west side of the peninsula is close to the beach as well as two golf courses.

Just to the north, Deep Cove, with its school, fire hall, coffee shop and gas station acts as the “downtown” and heart of North Saanich.

Marinas and Boating

Traditionally the ocean has played a big part in the lives of local residents, and today there are more than a dozen marinas located in and around the municipality of North Saanich. For example Curteis Point is home to five marinas clustered around a small cove and inlet, as well as a vibrant boat building industry.

Schools

North Saanich is located in School District #63, Saanich School District. There is a strong French Immersion program in Saanich School District, and local high schools provide many superb specialized programs for students.

Parklands High School, located about 15 minutes by car to the south of North Saanich, offers a hockey academy, a judo academy, and a sailing academy.

Transportation Links

Despite its tranquil pastoral setting, North Saanich is a transportation hub. There are convenient air connections to Vancouver, Toronto and several cities in United States.

North Saanich’s close relationship with the sea also means there are plenty of maritime links close by as well. Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal provides quick service to both Vancouver and the US-Canada border.
