Welcome to Esquimalt
Esquimalt, the town of stunning seafronts, incomparable parks, urban-design waterways and down-to-earth friendly residents. Soothe your soul and stimulate your imagination as you discover the area’s unique attractions.
Esquimalt lies just to the west of Victoria within walking and cycling distance of the downtown core.
Leafy streets and sidewalks, a wide mix of housing and proximity to nature make Esquimalt a perfect place for families, retirees and anyone else who wants to experience West Coast life.
Esquimalt is home to Canada’s Pacific Fleet and welcomes naval personnel from all over Canada. As a result, there are many opportunities for French language education:
- L’école Victor-Brodeur is a francophone K-12 school.
- Macaulay Elementary School offers English and French Immersion programs.
- Esquimalt High School offers a French Immersion program as well as a Challenge Program for gifted learners.
Esquimalt is part of Greater Victoria School District.
Esquimalt is located right on the Pacific Ocean and has many parks right on the coast. Macaulay Point offers visitors a chance to practice rock climbing or explore old naval gun emplacements that used to protect Victoria’s harbour.
A boat ramp at Macaulay Point also means that West Coast fishing is just minutes away.
Just to the west, Saxe Point is a favourite place for picnics and even to stage wedding photos.
A broad lawn is great for games of frisbee and exposed rock is perfect for young children to practice climbing.
The backdrop of the Olympic Mountains over the Strait of Juan de Fuca is a spectacular sight and available to anyone who lives in this oceanside community.
