Schools Near Cordova Bay

The community lies within Saanich School District (SD 63), which, despite its name, does not serve the entire Municipality of Saanich, but does serve the entire Saanich Peninsula, including parts of Saanich such as Cordova Bay.

Royal Oak Middle School

The Cordova Bay neighbourhood lies within the Royal Oak Middle School catchment. Located a short drive east from Cordova Bay, Royal Oak Middle School enrols about 550 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The school has served the community for 150 years, and was completely rebuilt in 2006.

Claremont Secondary School

Parkland Secondary School is centrally located in Cordova Bay. The high school is known for its Institute for Excellence, which is provided in collaboration with the nearby Pacific Institute for Sport (PISE, and a stellar fine arts program.

Commuting from Cordova Bay

The neighbourhood’s location at the base of the Saanich Peninsula means it’s an easy fifteen-minute drive by automobile into downtown Victoria to the south on Hwy 17 (the Pat Bay Highway), while the airport and BC ferries are located just fifteen minutes to the north.

However, many neighbourhood residents choose to ditch the car entirely and travel into town by bicycle via the Lochside Regional Trail. Depending on your fitness level, commuting by bicycle into town can be just as fast as driving.
