Mount Doug Park

Close by is one of the largest parks in Greater Victoria, Elk Lake and Beaver Lake. This network of swimming lakes provide opportunities for canoeing and kayaking, as well as fishing. The lakes are ringed by a ten-kilometer trail network popular with joggers, dog walkers and horseback riders.

Cordova Bay Golf Course

This parkland-style golf course is a favourite with locals. Besides offering 18-hole championship golf, Cordova Bay also offers stunning views of Mount Baker.

Shopping

For errands and quick trips, a pharmacy, post office and supermarket are located in the heart of Cordova Bay. Royal Oak Shopping Centre and Broadmead Village are nearby, while Langford Costco and the large Uptown shopping centre are both an easy trip by car from Cordova Bay.

Mattick’s Farm, located in the heart of Cordova Bay, offers a relaxed atmosphere and is a favourite with locals. Browse boutiques for local handcrafted pottery, handmade quilts, equestrian accessories, gardening tools and kitchenware.

Red Barn Market

Located at Mattick’s Farm, Red Barn Market is a farm-to-table supermarket offering fresh local produce, delicious deli prepared foods and locally raised Vancouver Island meat and poultry.

Schools Near Cordova Bay

The community lies within Saanich School District (SD 63), which, despite its name, does not serve the entire Municipality of Saanich, but does serve the entire Saanich Peninsula, including parts of Saanich such as Cordova Bay.

Cordova Bay Elementary

Located in the the heart of the community, Cordova Bay Elementary enrolls approximately 260 students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. The school now includes ‘Cordova Bay Community Place’, a joint venture of our school district and the Municipality of Saanich. This facility houses ‘Cordova Bay 55 Plus’, who run programs for more than 200 members here every day from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Lochside Elementary

Serving families who live in the southern reaches of Cordova Bay, Lochside Elementary is home to 450 students, and focuses on providing a collaborative environment using inquiry and project based learning.

Royal Oak Middle School

The Cordova Bay neighbourhood lies within the Royal Oak Middle School catchment. Located a short drive east from Cordova Bay, Royal Oak Middle School enrols about 550 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The school has served the community for 150 years, and was completely rebuilt in 2006.

Claremont Secondary School

Parkland Secondary School is centrally located in Cordova Bay. The high school is known for its Institute for Excellence, which is provided in collaboration with the nearby Pacific Institute for Sport (PISE, and a stellar fine arts program.

Commuting from Cordova Bay

The neighbourhood’s location at the base of the Saanich Peninsula means it’s an easy fifteen-minute drive by automobile into downtown Victoria to the south on Hwy 17 (the Pat Bay Highway), while the airport and BC ferries are located just fifteen minutes to the north.

However, many neighbourhood residents choose to ditch the car entirely and travel into town by bicycle via the Lochside Regional Trail. Depending on your fitness level, commuting by bicycle into town can be just as fast as driving.
